Data Modeling For Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence
Overview
Data Modeling for Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence is an in-depth, technical course that teaches the fundamental concepts for modeling a data warehouse, operational data store, and a data mart or other decision support application. Using both 3rd normal form, multi-dimensional (star schema and snowflake) modeling, and object techniques, attendees will learn how to represent the data requirements for a decision support system so that the resulting database is designed appropriately. The course includes a section on gathering data warehouse system requirements and examines the differences between requirements management and modeling for data warehousing versus transactional systems. With hands-on workshops, attendees will transform end users' requirements into physical data warehouse/data mart models.
Benefits to Your Company
By learning the best way to model for data warehouse systems, your designers and analysts will better capture business requirements and relate them to the supporting data structures. They will:
- Understand the differences between requirements management for transactional systems versus decision support systems
- Learn how to construct logical and physical decision support data models
- Understand how to building multi-dimensional models (star and snowflake)
- Construct data models that are flexible to changing data warehouse and data mart requirements
Who Should Attend
- Database designers
- Data architects
- Lead designers
- Business analysts
Learning Objectives
Database designers will learn to...
- Identify the key business data necessary to store in the physical data models in order for the data warehouse to provide value to its end users.
Lead designers and business analysts will learn how to...
- Design attainable requirements for the data warehouse.
- Understand how to create e-business solutions that deliver value.
