In the article entitled “Firm Aids Pentagon With Info Battles”, one project in particular focused on the Department of Defense’s complex “data jungle.” EWSolutions was asked to create a new central meta data database designed to tie together the DoD’s $80 billion supply chain, which includes over 8 million parts, operated by over 3 million people. This supply chain depends on over 3,000 different computer systems to provide data critical for making decisions such as whether a piece of tracking equipment is combat ready or if U.S. troops need to be re-supplied with items including ammunition, food, or water.
